Masjid Complex at Northolt, London, England

With a growth of the community in the London area, the Dawoodi Bohra community acquired a land on Rowdell Road in the Ealing suburbs of London in the 1980s. It is on the edge of a restoration area and is bordered by the Grand Union Canal to the southeast and an Industrial estate to the northwest.

A.Jivanjee Architect was appointed as architects for the project in collaboration with BDG Architects London. A.Jivanjee Architects created the concept, philosophy and overall planning of the project. The project is designed as a Mohalla (neighborhood) for the community.

The project is designed in a manner by which the Masjid complex is located at the centre of the site along the bank of the Grand Union canal. Houses line the perimeter of the site. This housing blends with the domestic architecture of the surrounding area. The Masjid and its surrounding garden form a community atmosphere especially when there is a large gathering.
