Qubba of Syedna Hatim (AQ) Hutaib Mubarak, Haraz, Yemen
The mausoleum is located in the village of Hutaib Mubarak in the Haraz mountains in Yemen. Syedna Hatim (AQ) is the 3rd Dai in the Dawoodi Bohra community, and an important place of pilgrimage for the community.
A. Jivanjee architects were appointed as architects for this project, as well as the projects for the redevelopment of the Haraz area. This area was historically renowned for the growing Arabica coffee and its growth and related industry is now encouraged.
The architecture of the mausoleum is derived from similar buildings in the Indian subcontinent and this has created a historic link. All marble and its artisans were acquired from Makrana India.
As architects we had to carefully detail all parts of the building and liaison with specialist calligraphers and artists.
